6th ave homes

As a former Country-Rock musician and a former police detective for the City of Fort Worth, they may seem an unlikely pair, but in 2014 they began buying, restoring, and selling homes in their historic neighborhood. After helping hundreds of their neighbors, in 2016, Jamey and Jimmy started 6th Ave Homes, which has since helped thousands of North Texans find or create a space that feels like them. 

6th Ave Homes began by happy accident when Jamey and Jimmy bought an old home that was close to being torn down in their neighborhood and decided to restore it into something cool and unique. They shared the entire process on social media, and people took notice. That first house sold fast, and they went on to buy and restore over 120 historic houses in Fort Worth. It was clear they’d hit on a big need.

The two had misgivings about how things were being done in the real estate industry. Every experience with real estate agents was frustrating - they weren’t adding value to the process, only hustling for commissions. Jimmy and Jamey found they knew more about houses, construction, and investing than people who’d been in the business for years. As a long-haired, tattooed musician and undercover detective, they didn’t relate to the overly formal, suit-and-tie experience that dominated the industry.

As they kept sharing what they were doing online, they got more and more calls from people looking for help.  It became clear that the real estate model was broken. 

In the fall of 2016, they launched 6th Ave Homes, a one-stop-shop for buying, selling, construction, and design. It was an entirely new model, and a way of approaching real estate - a turnkey solution that finally allowed people to find or create space that felt like them. It’s a less formal approach to real estate, because they believe real estate should be enjoyable and relational, not stuffy and intimidating.

6th Ave Homes has grown since its inception, helping thousands of people find and create homes that feel like them and even winning Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business of the Year Award. Today, the team of agents and construction experts not only help clients buy, sell, and renovate homes, but also provide custom design and construction services for existing spaces as well. People don’t just want to buy a house, they want to live in a home that reflects who they are. No matter the size and scope of the project, 6th Ave Homes has the resources and expertise to make it happen and make it fun.

Homes are sacred, and the 6th Ave team takes their responsibility seriously in honoring what’s special in each of the communities they touch. They want to see homes and neighborhoods brought back to life, inviting people into that process so that instead of moving out, they’re moving in. From the beginning, 6th Ave Homes has been a company driven by restoration, seeing in each day an opportunity to positively impact the community. Witnessing the restoration of both properties and people keeps the company moving forward. From relationships with clients to the houses they work on, 6th Ave Homes strives to leave everything better than they found it.

What began with one house in a small Fort Worth neighborhood has grown into a company with offices all over North Texas and beyond. The mission remains unchanged: creating homes, building community, real estate with soul.
